Big Buck Down

Last night, Zach went hunting and came home with this monster!

I can't wait to do canned venison for the first time.
The kids were very excited.
My husband is the Deer Slayer!

One of the coolest parts...

for the birthday boy,
 was to get some pictures
 with some much loved figures.
He was really wanted to be Luke at this point.
Captain America is great, but it's Star Wars people!

Needless to say this was the favorite part of the night!

Here are the fishing cupcakes we made for school.
He was so excited about them.
Happy Birthday to my little man!

A Birthday Weekend

The kids and I headed out to see my folks this weekend.
It just so happens to be my eldest birthday.
He turned seven...I'm still in disbelief.

On Friday night, my mom, myself, and the kids went to
Haunted Heritage Hill including a corn maze, old time spooky stories,
poems at the printing press house, and much more.

My eldest had to take everything off to prep for this activity...

My big girl needed a little help...

And my little princess wanted to keep her hat on
while she bobbed for her apple.

Here is my mom and the kids having a fun time.
Everyone had a wonderful time.
And of course, there was tears shed when we left,
but at least we get to look forward to our Christmas.(it's coming up fast)
Hopefully, more pictures to come.

My life...

is truly blessed!

One of my best friends, Ashley, is a photographer
and did a photo shoot with the family.
If you are thinking of getting pictures done,

Slacking....

It has been a whirl wind the last couple of weeks.
I find myself saying after _____ event it will slow down.
It seems like it does for a brief period and gets crazy again,
where I have to fill in the blank again.
Some of the things keeping me busy... 1 1/2 of apples.
I made applesauce and for the first time, apple butter.

The kids really like it!

I also continued in my search for a chewy granola bar.
had a great flavor
and if I had been watching the clock more closely
would have yielded a not so crumbly bar.

I was doing too many things at once. (Admitting it is the first step)
The kids and I were also making Carmel apples,
which turned out OK because we had left over Carmel that topped the granola bars:)

The boys went out shooting bows one night so
the girls and I stayed home and did a craft.
Canning ring pumpkins with cinnamon sticks for stems.

Needless to say,
I feel like my girl in this picture,
but am looking forward to a slower November.

My favorite time of year...

is fall.
I am a Midwesterner down to my bones...
Taking 6 months of winter, in exchange for two weeks of
fall temps and colors changing, is quite a commitment,
but all worth it in my opinion.

Most people who have lived in the Midwest at some point in their life and no longer do,
usually miss this time the most.

This is a little tribute to those of you who will miss the changing of the seasons.
We went to the public hunting land this past weekend
to do a little scouting and see all the leaves.

We had eagles flying over us as we walked.
It was a beautiful day.
And I got my exercise in too:)

Look at that view....
Oh, and the leaves are nice too.

Here is my beautiful hubby and I taking in the scenery.

This is one of the reasons I could never leave this area.
Sorry, mom:(
The view with the bluffs and valleys can't be beat.

This is called the three chimneys...very neat rock formation.

Soul mates.

The next couple pictures are seen just off the road I live on.

I know I'm spoiled!

I wish colors showed up as good in pictures as the look in real life,
because it's not quite as vibrant.

It's still breathtaking...

Wishing you all a color filled fall!
