Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins...

My favorite time of year is fall
and picking out pumpkins is one of our favorite activities.
We have a cute little house nearby that has a great selection to choose from.

The kids go through and select the very perfect pumpkin.

It was a Packer day at school so the kids are showing their Green Bay Spirit.
Even though my big girl doesn't go to school yet, she had to support the team too:)

 Here are their picks.
Quite fitting to their personalities.
My pick is on the right.

I will be doing another post on fall leaves shortly,
because the leaves are changing.
Just a peak.

We're not coach potatoes...

I made my husband laugh the other day
when I commented that he and I are coach potatoes.
He thinks my vision is warped sometimes,
which he's probably right, but don't tell him that:)
On the agenda for the weekend: putting in a gravel driveway by hand.

Well, with help from my father-in-law,
we got it done in about two days.

My big girl helped from the sidelines
by making funny faces to mama as she worked:)

That's my big girl "helping shovel".
I love doing projects with the kids by my side...
it usually takes twice as long, but it makes it fun.

And we did it!
Ok, ok, ok, maybe we aren't coach potatoes after all.

"I want a goose to lay golden eggs for Easter..."

Ok...so they're not gold, but they are beautiful!
Here are the very first two eggs that our girls started laying.
They are tiny compared to the normal sized ones
that my girlfriends chickens (of the same breed) lay.
The first eggs usually tend to be smaller and enlarge rather quickly.

Who needs golden eggs,
when these are perfect!

What I did yesterday...

Well, Zach has been diligently working on my garden shed.
And I have to say, I LOVE it!
It is just perfect
and exactly what I wanted.

He made the door and the windows.
And they look great.
Did I mention I love it?

This is some of what I did yesterday:
-Canned 18 pints of chili sauce
-Canned 7 half pints and 4 pints of Bruschetta
-Canned 6 quarts of green beans

Yesterday was my first time using a pressure canner.
I feel way more comfortable with it now
and am looking forward to canning some dry beans and meat next.
