Tis the season

The suggestion of possibly purchasing a tree came up this year and the kids all refused.  We have cut down our own Christmas tree since we've had kids.
It's a tradition that wasn't going to be changed.  Although, we might need to plant some more trees on our property that are good candidates.
This year Oscar got to cut it down by himself.  Usually, Zach and I take turns, but my baby is now ten so he got to do it this year.
We got it all set up.  We needed to get everything prepped before we left for our trip.
Zach is our lighting guy because he is so great at it.  He's my go to guy for well, everything.  I'm such a lucky lady!
The kiddos decorate the tree and have so for the past couple of years.  All by themselves and this ocd mom promises not to move the ornaments.  Note: this was extremely hard the first year, but I'm learning to love the three ornaments touching each other now.
Here's my goofball husband making the girls smile by wearing earrings of ornaments.
Finally, the star was placed on top.  The kids take turns placing the star on top.  I'm thinking the next time it's Oscar's turn, he won't need his dad's shoulders to reach the top.

Pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating

We had a great time trick-or-treating with the cousins.
Oscar was Obi wan Kenobi and Joey joined him in the Star Wars theme as Princess Leia.  Evie wanted to be a witch.
The kiddos had a great time and got TONS of treats.
For the first time after trick-or-treating, we carved pumpkins.  It was so much fun!
The girls love getting the guts out.
Can you guess who carved which pumpkin?

Here it is.  The kiddos drew on the faces themselves, but I did help with cutting:)

A week of hunting and celebrating

Zach and I got a chance to go out pheasant hunting this last week with my hubby.  It was the first time I went pheasant hunting and actually shot at a rooster.  To say it was exciting would have been an understatement!  Birds were flying and scaring me half to death only a few feet away from me.  I screamed only once.  I loved it!  The best part was using my grandpas shotgun-I know he'd be smiling down during the hunt!

Zach shot a buck and the kids and I got to help get it out of the woods, which led to an anatomy class.  It was kind of perfect because Oscar is going through anatomy in science right now.
I love seeing the kids understand where our food comes from and the blessings God bestows on us everyday!

We celebrated Oscar's 10th birthday this week.  My eldest is in the double digits- how did that happen?!?  He is growing into such a little gentleman and makes me so proud.  I'm one lucky lady and count my blessings daily!

It's Fall...

My favorite time of year.  I love the leaf change and I love getting ready to slow down a bit come winter.

The view in our part of the world shows off some of God's artistry.

Our Dixie did a great job of hunting since pheasant season opened.  She was able to get birds up the first time she went out.  We are so proud.

Here is a snapshot from today at the woods behind our house, we are blessed!

It's Been Awhile...

I haven't had any posts for a while, which is attributed to my new iPhone.  Since I'm not great with technology and haven't had much free time, I will sum up the last 3 months: I'm blessed beyond belief!  Enjoy the recap...
